eight minutes by my clock before tuesday expires so i will wing it with the haiku...
a pole dancing class
is not for wussies or shrimps
bruises for miles
i feel like a chorus of "amen"s should follow the concluding line. because my legs, my arms, my right wrist and a few of my left ribs could tell that story in black, blue and yellow. awesome my wedding is in seventeen days and not three, because i am in sorry shape.
saturday was my bachelorette party. i was "bridenapped" at magasin downtown where john and i were, ironically, buying a magazine. mirjam, annemarie, camilla, kristine, rebecca hoffmann and maria lundgren ran up and made me put on an enormous haz-mat-type jumpsuit with hearts and "john" and "jeg skal giftes" all over...also had to put on little mermaid floaties and carry around a big pink "sword" filled with bubble soap, which became really fun later, since we spent most of the day outside.
we walked over to kongens have and played a few games, including a "run on your tiptoes to the bottle, drink a cup, spin ten times and run back to tag your partner" game that affected me a little bit because, bride-to-be that i am, i hadnt quite bothered to eat yet at that point. then came the "three blindfolded girls listening for different animals chase after three unblindfolded girls making those animal noises" game, which climaxed with me being told to find the cow and then realizing everyone was standing around me moo-ing. typisk.
then we walked down on strøget where there was a huge carnival parade...saw a few drag queens actually. one was dressed as little bo peep, hah. sure. we came to a little door you could almost miss if you werent looking carefully and up on the fifth floor (read: hundreds and hundreds of stairs later!) we found...pole fitness. there was a room with about 10 poles and big windows so you could look over the top of the city - kind of a special place, actually. and then we began an hour of what turned out to be incredibly painful fun.
i think we were all honestly a little surprised by the torment wrought on our bodies by the pole. the whole thing is a little ridiculous when you really think about it. we just smashed into the thing a million different ways with our full body weight and ended up getting bumbles all over our legs and ribs the size of golf balls. the instructor taught us a cool routine and we had a lot of fun spinning around, but afterwards when we went home to rebecca hoffmann for a little break, i think everyone wanted to take a hot bath and go to sleep. it was a lot of work. but super, Super fun.
the next part of the day involved me raiding rebeccas closet for dresses i liked, putting them on and walking into the very crowded, very beautiful garden again to have my picture taken by a girl named pernille. it was a bit insane - being all fancy and cute in some of rebeccas very divine outfits, and having hundreds of people watching me get my picture taken. i do think its a job easier completed when a bit sauced, but whatever. ill just remember that for next time - dvs my wedding, hmm. sans sauce, i was a bit nervous and had a hard time getting into the rhythm. still, it was encouragement enough to know that i could fit into rebeccas clothes, because that woman is tiny.
then we went back to her apartment and linn, maritta and maria laugesen showed up - we had a lovely dinner, looked through the pictures (laughing at the dumb ones), drank lots of wine and asti and danced to the whole "dirty dancing" soundtrack. i was home super late (jumpsuit, floaties and bubble sword in tow) and completely crashed half-clothed. as in, unable to get out of the other half before falling asleep.
therefore, a big success. i was feeling the love. cant wait to see the pictures. and the video from pole dancing, hah.
frækt frækt frækt.
yesterday we went grillin´with johns parents, sonja and georg. just the ultimate cozy day with tons of sun, lots of green and john with no shirt. we took a drive up the coast to a beach a few km north of rungsted and waded in the water while a few hundred blondies bathed and played around. it was too pretty for words. some days i just love denmark. because its totally ok to take off your clothes and go swimming in your unds if the mood strikes. which it did yesterday, since it was like 29 degrees and i was roastin. so God bless denmark, and lucky me that i wore a set that was both appropriate and matching.
today sonja and i knocked a few big things off the list - the florist, the table cloths, and lots of the candy purchasing. it was like 4 hours of wedding work and we are not even halfway there. but thats what i get for getting married, i suppose. i do love shopping for candy, so i really shouldnt complain.
i bought like 3 drums of gummies. it was a pretty good day.
john is sleeping. i ate some banana bread before laying down so i couldnt quite doze and now i am up writing this, and will later switch on my dvd player to try and zone out enough to go back to bed. long post, but the livin is good on bogtrykkervej.
have it cozy.
