allergy season:
red eyes, puffy face and a
mountain of kleenex

amore e cucina is fanno con passione
"approach love and cooking with reckless abandon"
if there was ever to be a theme to my life.
that would probably be it.
the weekend went quickly. linn and kyle's wedding - helping them set it up on saturday morning, helping them celebrate on saturday night, letting john help me home on sunday morning - i am still recovering.
allergy season has stuck its foot in the door and is rudely making its way in. i am puffy chic today, with no make-up and a doofy-looking ponytail. that is as good as it is going to get today, i fear. good thing john appreciates physical comedy.
tomorrow is my last day of working at the scleroseforeningen (danish ms society) making calls for them about putting their collection cans up in different shops - essentially calling strangers for six hours a day and repeating the same three questions over and over into eternity. it's actually more boring than it sounds. and talking about it now has made this paragraph so boring i'll just have to end it. there you go.
look forward to tuesday's haiku. it's going to be a doozy.

it's around this time every year that i remember fondly my father's violent hatred for easter grass - the crinkly green plastic strips that line easter baskets, and those big novelty eggs filled with bunny-shaped chocolates. the holidays just seem to totally disagree with someone so organized. confetti, tinsel, and easter grass. vacuum all day and you still won't get every piece. in palatine, the final stubborn decorations are usually uncovered when my dog snowball is found eating them.
have been enjoying the world of baking and caking lately. the interest grew from an insecurity about trusting my wedding cake to a danish bakery who would either make something super healthy and therefore not celebratory enough, something traditional and therefore not pretty enough, or something perfect and therefore not inexpensive enough. because who can honestly afford living here. i do all my shopping on ebay because this place is bananas.
anyway. i have been honing my skills, both on the baking and decorating side, and the goal is to champion my wedding cake. my allies are martha stewart and wilton.com, and i am just trucking along. here's a picture of my easter cake, which i finished last night. the top has an orange filling and the bottom has strawberry-rhubarb: little easter fatty.
lots of fun.
does feel a bit pointless to spend so much time beautifying something that is just going to be cut into pieces, chewed and digested after. but c'est la vie.
happy easter.

life on stue
having trouble with the html on this page.
blogger has become so prissy.
gone are the simpler days of diary-x, apparently.
no such thing as viewing a source and copy/pasting anymore.
who has some cheese to go with my whine!
thought about spending some time on a page for those interested in the life of me and my mr.
there are lots of changes coming up - wedding, travel, name, etc. so this could be a fun spot to visit.
i've had some funny dreams lately.
recommitting myself to no sugar after seven.
